UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the individual who was found to have recorded and distributed the speech of Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a closed-door meeting, will have to face the music.

He said, the individual, an UMNO division deputy chief will be referred to the management committee for further action.

“I had contacted and informed him. He had apologized but I told him I cannot accept his apology. The damage is already done,” he said at a press conference after attending the Home Ministry’s Family Day today.

In the recording, Muhyiddin in a closed-door meeting with UMNO leaders at Institut Latihan Memperkasakan UMNO (ILMU) at Janda Baik, Pahang had urged the police to probe the national strategic investment company, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

The video also featured Muhyiddin calling Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to sack all of 1MDB’s board of directors.

The video had gone viral on social media after it was published by blogger, Firdaus Abdullah on his blog, www.apanama.com, recently.

Earlier, UMNO Labour Secretary, Datuk Ab Rauf Yusuf said the individual has failed to adhere to the ruling prohibiting any recording to be done during any closed-door meetings.

Ab Rauf also said that participants who attended the programme at ILMU should have been well aware of the rules and guidelines by the institution.
