Muhyiddin Yassin no longer a BN MP, says Azalina
She said Muhyididn's status in the Parliament will be decided after the BN's whip informs the Parliament Speaker of the matter.
Expelled UMNO deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is no longer a Barisan Nasional MP, says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
"Following Muhyiddin's expulsion from UMNO, the Pagoh member of Parliament is no longer a MP who represents the Barisan Nasional," she said in a statement today.
She said Muhyididn's status in the Parliament will be decided after the BN's whip informs the Parliament Speaker of the matter.
"However, any changes to the Pagoh MP's status will not affect BN's status as the ruling party as it still forms the majority in Parliament," she added.
The UMNO Supreme Council yesterday expelled Muhyiddin and former Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir from the party.
UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the decision was made because the two leaders had shared the same stage with the Opposition and attacked the party's leadership.

In a statement uploaded on Facebook today, Muhyididn said he had never betrayed the party which he had been a member for 40 years.
The former Deputy Prime Minister said he is disappointed that UMNO today is no longer the party that it used to be.
Muhyiddin and Mukhriz were among the 18 individuals who made speeches in the gathering by a group of people, demanding for Najib's resignation.
