Mukhriz fails to gain support in Johor

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir failed to gain much support in Johor as only two divisions voted for him to become one of the three UMNO vice-presidents.

The two divisions were Tebrau and Johor Baharu.

In Tebrau, Mukhriz even garnered 397 votes to stay ahead of Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein (387) and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (361), while in Johor Baharu, he scored 329 votes behind Ahmad Zahid (470) and Hishammuddin (333).

Overall, the 26 UMNO divisions in Johor chose Ahmad Zahid, who garnered  11,586 votes, Hishammuddin (9,670) and Shafie Apdal (9,192), for the post of UMNO vice-president.

The result of the contest for vice-president's posts in Johor was announced by Johor UMNO Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin this evening.
