Mukhriz willing to lead Kedah Umno, BN

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir has expressed his willingness to shoulder responsibility as chairman of Kedah Umno and Kedah Barisan Nasional (BN).

Mukhriz, who is currently deputy chairman of Kedah Umno said it is up to the party leadership to appoint him to replace Kedah Umno chairman Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.

"I do not know, so let us wait for it (Umno leadership decision). I am willing to shoulder the heavy responsibility," he told reporters after the 40th anniversary dinner of Federation of Malaysian Consumers Association (Fomca) at Dataran Balai Besar Alor Setar, here last night.

Ahmad Bashah reportedly said that he was ready to quit as chairman of Kedah Umno and Kedah BN to ensure BN victory in the 14th general election (GE14).

The Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism was ready to assist Mukhriz to ensure that BN continues to rule Kedah.
