Datuk S. Murugesan said that he has tendered his resignation letter as MIC's Secretary General this morning.
The resignation was following Murugesan's loss during the recent election.
"I have reiterated my stand to the President Datuk Seri G. Palanivel last week. I have allowed a few days's period in order for him to find a suitable successor as the party Secretary General," he said in a statement this afternoon.
Murugesan said that party needs to rejuvenate and renew itself as well as to be more relevant to the younger generation.
Nevertheless, he will remain as a MIC member.
"I will take a short break and return to continue to serve the party in my capacity as a CWC member and branch chairman," said Murugesan.
