The Sabah Zakat and Baitulmal Centre will ensure that the tithe contributions are channeled to the deserving groups in the state.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the contribution would be given to the less fortunate groups such as the poor, single mothers and orphans.
In this regard, he wanted the groups tasked with the responsibility, particularly leaders at the local level to notify the centre about those eligible to receive the zakat contribution.
"Such contribution, to a certain extent, could ease the burden of the less fortunate groups especially during the Ramadan month and prior to the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri," he said at a ceremony to hand out contributions at the Nurul Ihsan Mosque in Kampung Kenangan Manis, near here today.
