'Muslim leaders need to stand for justice to stop extremism'
The rise of extremists such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda has been attributed to the lost of faith among young Muslims towards their leaders.
Extremism among Muslim youths can be stopped if the youths could see "the light at the end of the tunnel".
International Islamic University of Malaysia's (IIUM) Comparative Civilization Professor Abdullah Al-Ahsan said Muslim leaders need not only provide hope but demonstrate that they stand for justice to gain trust of the youth.
He said Muuslim leaders have made commitments in the name of Islam but have not fulfilled the commitments.
"In Kashmir, in Palestine they have failed. Also, failure to take Western leaders such as Tony Blair to the International Court of Justice for invading Iraq has fueled their frustrations," he told Astro AWANI after a 'Black Day' commemoration at the High Commision of Pakistan in the capital city Tuesday.
