The 32-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Selangor PAS ulama wing's former committee member Wan Ji Wan Hussin was today charged with sedition for insulting the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
Wan Ji was charged under Sect 4 of the Sedition Act 1948 for his Facebook posting on Nov 5, 2012, insulting the Ruler.
The 32-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge, the Star reported.
Sessions court Judge Slamat Yahya set bail at RM5,000 and the case was fixed for mention on Oct 10.
Wan Ji who had been vocal in criticising the country’s religious authorities, had also criticised the Home Ministry’s ban on the use of the word “Allah” in Malay-language bibles.
He had also allegedly commented on Malay rulers and that the sultans could not be called the head of the religion.
