Mustafa Ali to contest in Putrajaya?
Pas will field its Secretary-General Datuk Mustafa Ali as Pakatan Rakyat’s candidate to contest in Putrajaya in the 13th General Election (GE-13).
A source from the party told Astro Awani that even though Putrajaya is an Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) stronghold, Mustafa is said to be willing to confront anyone including the seat’s incumbent, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
The clash will see two party secretary-generals representing the Malaysa as Tengku Adnan is Umno's secretary-general.
“ Cikgu Pa (Mustafa) has been listed to contest in Putrajaya and he has said he will face anyone including Ku Nan (Tengku Adnan),” said the source.
Mustafa, however, refused to comment when asked to verify the matter.
Instead, he said Pas will soon announce its list of candidates.
“I am waiting for the announcement myself. There might be a possibility, there might not,” he said.
Mustafa served as deputy science, technology and environment minister in 1977 when PAS was in the ruling coalition.
In GE-12, Musatafa who ran for the Alor Limbat state assembly seat lost to BN’s Alias Abdullah.
Tengku Adnan on the other hand won the Putrajaya parliamentary seat with 4,038 votes while Pas candidate, Mohamad Noor Mohamed received 1,304 votes.
