KUALA LUMPUR: The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) has uploaded My Local Stats 2022 data on the platform My Local Stats interactive visualisation on DOSM's portal and its mobile apps to facilitate public data searches.
Chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the interactive visualisation facilitates local socioeconomic data search using a user-friendly platform as well as provides a new dimension to access statistics visually.
"The data visualisation is also seen as capable of engaging more users in understanding statistics, besides making it easier for users to obtain various data on the same platform," he said in a statement today.
According to the statement, the interactive visualisation contains key socio-economic statistics at the state and administrative district levels from 2019 to 2022 based on the publication of My Local Stats 2022 released on Nov 27, 2023. Additionally, it displays time series statistics for selected indicators starting from 2015.
Mohd Uzir said the interactive visualisation also showcases an additional 14 new indicators on the DOSM portal and mobile application, including placements at MYFutureJobs based on occupation, number of entrepreneurs and sales under the DESAMALL Programme.
"The availability of statistics down to a more detailed level is a crucial foundation in formulating and implementing policies for the development of the country and the interests of the people.
"It will benefit the entire community by enabling more efficient planning and resource management by decision-makers at the district and local government levels," he said.
According to DOSM, the interactive visualisation comprises 16 areas containing economic and social indicators, covering 316 national indicators, 238 state indicators and 101 administrative district indicators.
Among the indicators available in both web and mobile app versions up to the state and administrative district levels are population by gender and ethnicity; land area size; the number of existing residential stocks, completed residential units, in coming supply of residential units and planned residential units; key labour force statistics; the number of government hospitals and clinics; main reasons for medically certified deaths and the number of poor household heads.
Some indicators available at the state level include the number of medical staff; export and import values by exit and entry points and Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
