Myanmar extends state of emergency for 6 more months
The state of emergency was first declared in Feb 2021, after the military detained former government leaders, including the state counsellor and the president. - REUTERS
YANGON: Myanmar's National Defence and Security Council on Monday announced the extension of the state of emergency for six more months, Xinhua news agency reported.
The extension was made for necessary preparations for the multi-party general elections, the announcement said.
The state of emergency was first declared in Feb 2021, after the military detained former government leaders, including the state counsellor and the president.
