Myanmar severs wrist of robber during hold-up at Sikamat home
MUHAMAD ZAKI: The injured robber collapsed in some bushes about 50 metres away from the house.
Four robbers picked the wrong victim when they viciously assaulted a Myanmar during a hold-up at his house in Sikamat here early Saturday.
The victim, who holds a United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) card, retaliated with a vengeance when he grabbed a machete and severed the wrist of one of the assailants.
The 26-year-old injured robber, who tried to flee from the house in Taman Sikamat Utama, collapsed in some bushes about 50 metres away.
His accomplices escaped in a white van in the incident about 3.30am.
Seremban police chief ACP Muhamad Zaki Harun said the injured man, who also was in possession of a UNHCR card, was detained to facilitate investigations.
He said the man was warded at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital.
He said the police seized a blood-stained machete, two necklaces, a pair of ear-rings and cash totalling about RM5,000 at the scene where the suspect was found writhing in pain.
Relating the incident, Muhamad Zaki said a Myanmar couple holding UNHCR status were asleep at the house when four men broke into the premises via the window of the guest room.
"They then kicked open the door of a bedroom where the couple, in their 40s and 30s, slept. Two of the intruders rushed towards the shocked couple and assaulted the man viciously.
"The man fought back and managed to grab a machete, lashing out at the intruders before severing the wrist of one of the assailants.
"At that juncture, the four men fled from the house via the front door before the police found the suspect in the bushes," he said.
