The Malaysian Youth Council (MYC), one of the observers appointed by the Election Commission (EC) for the 13th general election (GE13), has concluded that the May 5 general election was held according to the laws and met all the procedures.
Its president, Mohamed Maliki Mohamed Rapiee, said the issue on phantom voters and the disruption of power supply, as claimed by certain quarters, did not exist.
"The report by the MYC observers and suggestions to improve the election system have been submitted to the EC two weeks ago," he told reporters after the tabling of the report on GE13 by the MYC observers here today.
Among the suggestions made by MYC to improve the election system, he said, was to announce the election date a year earlier.
He said he council also suggested the EC to carry out more research on the use of the indelible ink.
"Another suggestion is for the EC to use thumb print to confirm the eligible voters," he added.
