MyWatch chairman detained under POCA
Sanjeevan while being detained at the Kajang IPD on Sunday. This is reportedly the seventh time he has been arrested.
Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairman Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan was detained today under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (POCA) for alleged criminal intimidation and extortion.
Bukit Aman D7 principal assistant director, SAC Roslee Chik said Sanjeevan was detained at the Kajang District Police headquarters at 4.30pm.
"Sanjeevan was detained under Section 3 (1) of POCA for another 60 days because he was believed to have committed criminal intimidation and extortion," he said when contacted here Sunday.
Previously, Sanjeevan, 32, and his driver, an Indian national, were detained under Section 506, Section 384 and 385 of the Penal Code for alleged criminal intimidation and extortion near the Nilai Toll Plaza on June 22.
He was arrested following a police report lodged by a complainant that the suspect threatened to spread slander about him through the Facebook social site.
Sanjeevan was detained with his driver at 10pm on June 22 after receiving protection money of RM25,000 from the complainant.
