The Indian Youths in the country will be empowered through the New Affirmative Action Movement (NAAM), said its founder and Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Datuk M. Saravanan. Speaking at a briefing on the movement here on Sunday, he said NAAM was prepared to accept the views of various parties regardless of their political ideologies. "Politicians and leaders from various parties which represent the Indian community gathered to discuss about NAAM," he told reporters after his speech at the movement's briefing here. NAAM, which was launched on November 23 last year, aims at empowering the economic status of 100,000 Indian youths in four years time (2013-2017). Meanwhile, Ipoh Barat Member of Parliament M. Kulasegaran (DAP), who attended the briefing, said his party was fully prepared to cooperate in any way to advance the Indian youths in the country. Praising the establishment of NAAM, the DAP leader said he welcomed the idea as it was a platform to help the Indian community. Meanwhile commenting on the Hindu Rights Action Force's (Hindraf) decision to withdraw its chairman Datuk P. Waytha Moorthy from all government posts, Saravanan said Barisan Nasional (BN) should be more careful about forging alliances with other political parties in the future.
