PUNCAK ALAM: A total of 160 volunteers from the National Farmers Organization (NAFAS) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) have joined hands to carry out a post-flood relief mission in affected areas in Selangor.
NAFAS general manager Abu Sujak Sahuji said the mission would focus on cleaning the flood-affected houses of worship, public facilities as well as NAFAS premises that would be carried out until tomorrow.
He said the initial focus of the post-flood clean-up operation was in Hulu Langat, near here.
He added that NAFAS would also forge the corporate social responsibility collaboration with other UiTM campuses that are located near the flood-affected areas, especially those that need volunteer services.
"NAFAS will collaborate with UiTM Segamat in Johor to carry out the flood-relief mission in affected areas in Johor, Pahang and Negeri Sembilan.
"It is hoped that this initiative will help alleviate the burden faced by those affected by the floods," he said during the flagging off ceremony of the flood relief mission at Kompleks Kemudahan Pelajar Rafflesia, UiTM Puncak Alam, here, today.
Present was UiTM Selangor Deputy Rector (Student Affairs) Associate Professor Dr Badrul Isa.
Abu Sujak said through the mission, UiTM volunteers would also help distribute donations that were collected from various parties to flood victims in Hulu Langat.
