Barisan Nasional (BN) wants to wrest back Selangor in the coming 13th general election as it wishes to provide far better services than the current state administration can, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"If given the opportunity and mandate, BN will undertake better efforts, and earnestly to create an administration that is able to fulfil the aspirations, wants and expectations of the people in Selangor," he said during a live radio broadcast from SelangorBN.FM when launching the radio channel at the Selangor Umno building, here, on Thursday.

Najib, who is also Selangor BN chairman and state Umno liaison chief, said of late, many problems had cropped up in Selangor, especially those related to the empty promises made (by the opposition) during the last general election in 2008.

"This means they (opposition) have not kept their promises. I can't stand people making empty promises. I think the people in Selangor feel this way too because we all feel cheated.

"I don't like if people deceive me...I don't know about others, but I believe we all have the attitude of holding on to people's promises," he said when interviewed by programme host Kavimani Muthayam during the nine-minute radio broadcast.

Najib said new approaches or new media such as the SelangorBN.FM internet radio were giving the message that BN was prepared to perform much better than the PKR-led state government.

"Through this radio broadcast too, BN is able to get feedback from the people and this medium will also be a platform for BN to serve the people better and more effectively.

"We appeal to the voters to give us a chance. I will see to it that Selangor will not lag behind rapid national development because Selangor is such an important and strategic state," he said.

Najib said it was important for Selangor and the federal government to be on the same track and moving in tandem with regard to policies, to avoid creating difficulties to the public such as the water supply crisis.

He said such problems would also put the country at a disadvantage.

Najib also said that the use of internet radio was a new approach for BN because as a political party, it must be prepared to change and carry out transformation.

"If we suggest to the people to change, we must do it first to show that as a political party, we are prepared to accept new ideas, whether it is about policies, programmes or approaches."

He said in the post-independence days, the government screened films to connect with the people but today, the government used social media like internet radio and he himself actively used Twitter for the same purpose.

Also present at the radio launch were Selangor Umno deputy chief Datuk Seri Noh Omar, state BN coordinator Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed and its informaton chief Datuk Yap Pian Hon, People's Progressive Party president Datuk Seri M.Kayveas and Gerakan vice-president A.Kohilan Pillay.

SelangorBN.FM can be accessed via www.selangorbn.fm or by downloading the Tune In Radio application for iPhone users or Google Play for android phone users.

Earlier, Najib heard a briefing from the Selayang, Gombak, Subang, Kelana Jaya and Petaling Jaya South Umno divisions, besides meeting with BN component party leaders.
