Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak conveyed his condolences to the families and friends of those affected by the earthquake that struck Nepal and the Northern region of India.
"My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those affected by the earthquake," he said in a Twitter and Facebook post, Saturday.
Najib said the Foreign Affairs Ministry was monitoring the situation closely.
"Both the Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu and the High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi have contacted registered Malaysians and they are reportedly safe," he added.
The 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal Saturday not only left more than 900 people dead but also almost wiped out several centuries old buildings in the capital Kathmandu and surrounding areas.
