Najib extends condolences to Yaakob Mohammad's family

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today recorded his condolences to the family of former UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) executive secretary Datuk Yaakob Mohammad who died early this morning.
"(My) condolences to the family of Datuk Yaakob Mohammad, former UMNO and BN executive secretary on his passing this morning. May Allah bless his soul," Najib wrote in his Twitter account.
Yaakob, 67, died at the KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital, here of lung complications and his remains were buried at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery, here at about 10.30am, after funeral prayers at the Saidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq Mosque, Bangsar.
From 1991 to 1997, he had held positions as BN executive secretary, Committee Member of the Alor Setar UMNO division and head of the Welfare and Poverty Bureau of Alor Setar UMNO, besides holding the post of UMNO executive secretary beginning in 1988.
He had also held the position of BN executive secretary from 1991 to September 2009 and was appointed a senator in 2002.
