The rain did not stop thousands of Muslims from gathering at Dataran Merdeka for the 'Pray For Malaysia' event on Saturday, in conjunction with 2015 National Day.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, clad in a white jubah and skullcap also joined thousands of Muslims along with several cabinet ministers.
The ceremony began with the Isyak prayers led by the imam of Masjid Sultan Salahudin Abdul Aziz Shah, Selangor, Syeikh Abdul Karim Omar Al-Makki.
This was followed by special prayers (solat hajat) led Federal Territory mufti Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.
Later, a prayer to avert Malaysia from all harm was recited by the chief imam of Masjid Tuanku Zainal Abidin Putrajaya, Hazarudin Baharudin.
The prayer was also meant for prosperity and the strengthening of unity among Malaysians in conjunction with National Day 2015, and also for the well-being and security of the country from tragedies and disasters.
