UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak left the 64th UMNO General Assembly today to check out the flood disaster in Pahang.
He left the Putra World Trade Centre, where the assembly was held, this afternoon to check on the worsening condition of the floods in the state.
“I’m on my way to survey the floods in Rompin, Pekan and Kuantan. I was told that our security officers are struggling to relocate the victims to safe grounds and ensuring that food and medical supplies are sufficient.
“Most importantly, please adhere to safety measures and be careful in emergencies such as this,” he said in his latest Facebook entry posted today.
On his Twitter, the Prime Minister also prayed for the flood victims to remain safe.
“I will be pushing off to Pahang to check on the flood situation in Kuantan, Rompin and Pekan in a bit. I pray for everything to be safe,” he tweeted in Bahasa.
Pahang is so far the worst-hit state following the floods that hit the East Coast since earlier this week.
Meanwhile, UMNO deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will visit the flood-hit Mersing in Johor on Friday.
The Deputy Prime Minister said Barisan Nasional had mobilised its volunteers to the flood affected areas to help with the evacuation of victims.
