Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today played golf with media personnel at the Astro Media Golf 2014 tournament at The Mines Resort and Golf Club here.
He arrived at 7.30am before teeing off at 8.15am.
Also present were Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Malaysia's Special Envoy to the United States, Datuk Seri Jamaludin Jarjis.
More than 70 players from various media organisations including Media Prima, Redberry, Utusan Melayu and The Star besides organiser Astro took part in the torunament.
Later, the Prime Minister handed over a contribution of RM200,000, which was collected via the tournament, to the Malaysian Ex-National and State Footballers Association.
Part of the money was also handed to the family of the late Wong Choon Wah, a legendary ex-national footballer who died on Jan 31.
Astro chairman Tun Zaki Tun Azmi in his welcoming speech said: "We are pleased to extend our customer value proposition to ground events such as the 2014 Astro Media Golf for our friends in the media as a gesture of our appreciation for their support of Astro."
Jamaludin was the champion in the Medal A category after shooting 37 strokes while The Star Metro's Brian Martin won the Medal B category with 33 strokes.
The prizes were given away by Ahmad Shabery.
