Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has called on the people to cease all squabbles as well as stop spreading and believing in slander so as to ensure prosperity in the country.
"Let's not entertain matters which can divert our attention from the efforts to realise our vision (to achieve developed nation status)," he said in the latest post on his blog, www.najibrazak.com.
He said the people should stop doing all these things which did not bring any benefit.
"After our nation achieved independence, our cause has been to develop the country, to modernise it and to achieve developed nation status by 2020," he said.
The prime minister said that destination promised a better life for everyone.
He said the goal was very clear and "as the prime minister I focus my energy and efforts totally to take Malaysia to this objective".
"We must have a cause in our lives, a cause to serve our family, religion, community and nation. When the cause is realised, then our lives become meaningful," he said.
Najib said that prior to 1957, the people's cause was to attain independence.
"The Alliance Party led by UMNO, along with our friends from the other communities, focused our energy and forged solidarity to fight for independence," he said.
