Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become a fashion icon this Deepavali with many flocking into Indian textiles stores in the country, looking for what they call the "Modi shirts".
Harekrisha Men's Choice director, Athvik Bathumalai said the suits were one of the bestsellers in their store in Klang, Selangor.
"We first noted this trend a few months ago, after Modi was elected into power. The Indian PM has become somewhat of a fashion icon this year," he told Astro AWANI.
He said price of the shirts range from RM79 to RM109 and are available in several colours and in adult sizes up to 54 or 6XL.

Athvik said Harekrisha Men's Choice, an outlet which only sells men's fashion from ties, socks, formal office wear, kurtas and sherwani suits, has been attracting many customers since it first opened its doors in 2012.
"People were curious that there is a shop in Tengku Kelana, Klang, an area well known for sarees and other Indian women-related items, selling only men's items. That curiosity alone brought many customers to our shop," he said with a smile.
"Some of our customers told us that they purposely bring their wives to this shop so that they can finally watch the women wait for a change," he quipped.
The store is the first of its kind in the country, selling only men's fashion in Indian ethnic wear.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that Modi-inspired fashion was also making waves among children.
Sri Kumaran's Silk Store managing director, N. Mohan told the national news agency that many parents were encouraging their kids to go for the 'Modi attire' and photographing children dressed up in such suits was becoming a trend at his outlet.
The complete set of Modi suit for children comes with a kurta, a shirt and a pair of tight pants.
