National hockey player Chua Boon Huat dies in car crash
National hockey player Chua Boon Huat died in an accident early this morning. He was 33.
The 2.55am accident, along the Damansara-Puchong Highway near Kelana Jaya LRT station, involved his car and a lorry, according to an online report in New Straits Times.
The player, from Bukit Cina, Malacca, was one of the longest serving hockey players in the country.
He made his debut when he was 17-year-old with the Malaysia hockey team in the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
He is has played in all major hockey events since making his debut.
Chua had earned more than 300 caps for Malaysia and has played in competitions such as the World Cup, Olympics, Champions Trophy, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Asia Cup.
