National Month launch: PwD community to join 'Berjalan Teguh Bersama' programme

PUTRAJAYA: About 100 Persons with Disabilities (PwD) will join thousands of Keluarga Malaysia to walk through a 2.7-km route in Putrajaya this Saturday (July 30) in the 'Berjalan Teguh Bersama' programme.
OKU Sentral president Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi said the PwD who would participate in the programme held in conjunction with the launch of the 2022 National Month and the flying of Jalur Gemilang, comprised those with speech and learning disablities as well as the visually and hearing impaired.
"This is to show our support for the programme and at the same time for others to see that we are also part of Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family)," said Ras Adiba who will also participate in the programme, when contacted today.
Some 10,000 participants are expected to join the 'Berjalan Teguh Bersama' programme which is scheduled to begin at 8 am.
The programme will start from Dataran Putra and pass through several checkpoints namely, the Federal Territories Ministry office, the New Millennium Monument and the National Registration Department before ending at the Palace of Justice.
The programme which has the concept of a leisurely walk with family members, brings the message of the spirit of unity and togetherness of Malaysians as Keluarga Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Information Department's Media And Corporate Communications Division director, Datuk E. Sivabalan said the PwD community was highly encouraged to join the walk to liven up the programme.
