Security in the country, as a result of terrorist threat, is still under control with the arrest of six Indonesians for allegedly planning an attack on neighbouring Singapore, said Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
He said proactive measures were continuously taken by the ministry following cases of terrorist attack in neighbouring countries.
"We are always on the alert, with cases happening in Bangkok and Jakarta. So far, security in the country is under control," he told reporters at KL Sogo's 2016 Business Partners Appreciation Banquet here Friday night.
According to a Reuters report, an Indonesian police spokesman said six Indonesians had been arrested on Pulau Batam today for plotting attacks against Singapore.
Meanwhile, Nur Jazlan said a meeting with all foreign ambassadors will be held on Tuesday to assure them that foreign citizens and tourists in the country are safe.
However, he reminded the people to be vigilant and to report to the authorities if they find any suspicious packages or luggage left in public places.
He said action could be taken against anyone who deliberately leave their packages or luggage unattended.
