Nayati Kidnap: High Court sets five days for trial
The High Court here today set five days from April 15 to hear the case of three friends charged with kidnapping 12-year-old Dutch national Nayati Shamelin Moodliar last April.
High Court deputy registrar Noor Aini Yusof also set Dec 4 for case management.
Self-employed Chong Tat Siong, 23, handphone seller Foong Khar Fai, 19, unemployed Lee Phak Seng, 23, and another, who is still at large, are charged with kidnapping the boy with intention to extort RM300,000 in ransom from his parents.
The offence was allegedly committed at Jalan Kiara 1, Mont Kiara, at 7.30am on April 27 this year.
They face the death penalty or life imprisonment, as well as whipping, upon conviction, under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Act 1961.
