Nearly 7,000 Facebookers share the collapsed lightning arrester video
Nearly 7,000 Facebook users have shared a short video clip on the anxious moments of the collapsed lightning arrester pole incident in Jalan Macalister, here which occurred on last Thursday.
The 15-second video titled 'Before accident at Umno building...PDRM CCTV' showed images of the lightning arrester falling and crashing onto the road and hitting several vehicles including a Honda City, believed to belong to a man, Lim Chin Aik, 44.
In the 6.45pm incident, a 20-metre long lightning arrester pole on the Umno building was toppled by strong wind during a storm which resulted in a five-metre hole being made on the ground.
The video, which was uploaded by unidentified individuals began to spread extensively 16 hours ago.
Police confirmed that the chassis number of the buried car matched that of the victim's car which was reported missing since the incident occurred after the victim had gone to pick up his younger daughter from school.
The incident also claimed the life of Jahir Sulaiman, 46, who suferred severe injury and later died at the Penang Hospital after the lorry he was travelling in with fellow workers was hit by the fallen pole.
Earlier, chief minister Lim Guan Eng at a press conference here today showed the CCTV recordings to the victim's family and media personnel.
Among family members present were the victim's parents, Ang Kim Hooi@Ang Kim Looi, 70, and Lim Tian Chor, 73.
