Netizens brush off #HomophobicMalaya campaign
#HomophobicMalaya campaign receives lukewarm response from netizens.
A movement apparently initiated by the underground scene is rallying for support for a campaign called #HomophobicMalaya. It is a movement against the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
The first tweet was uploaded on November 20 by a Twitter user known as Masmona (@MaslianaKizuna). The tweet which included a poster of the movement, received 763 retweets and 185 ‘Favorite’.
Malaysia’s Twitter timeline was abuzz with this movement, with many condemning it as a publicity stunt. Some also expressed their lack of support for the skinhead and metal groups.
So, just found out that this #homophobicmalaya thing is a cheap publicity stunt by some uneducated scene wannabe.

Laaaa geng skinhead and metal ka buat #homophobicmalaya ni? What happened to "accepting people however they are" yg pernah korang preached?
— KRSSA (@karissalund) November 22, 2014
#HomophobicMalaya instead of going against innocent people, yall go against yourselves bc I don't think yall know how irrelevant yall are.

The fact that skinhead and metal group held the #HomophobicMalaya campaign, using Al-Quran verses to against them is too ironic

Some brushed off the campaign as funny and ridiculous:
This Masliana girl who started #HOMOPHOBICMALAYA campaign said she is fighting in the name of Islam. Avatar terkangkang pakai t-shirt arak.

There was a few tweets of support for this campaign but the organiser continues to express her thoughts about the need to continue with this anti-gay initative:
