The social media was today flooded with the five Rukun Negara principles in conjunction with its Golden Jubilee celebration, as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen unity among Malaysians.
Various 'positive vibes' were expressed by Facebook and Twitter users on this special celebration, which was launched by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at Bangunan Perdana Putra in Putrajaya today.
The Prime Minister also launched special commemorative stamps themed 'Lima Puluh Tahun' (Fifty Years) in five designs, each featuring one of the five principles of Rukun Negara, as well as the Rukun Negara logo.
Twitter user @AidanAlfatih said "Selamat menyambut ulang tahun RUKUN NEGARA yang ke-50! Semoga kesucian keharmonian perpaduan tidak terhakis dan dikikis punah dek hasutan membuta tuli selari dalam menongkah arus globalisasi #RukunNegara #Malaysia (“Happy 50th Rukun Negara anniversary! May the purity of united harmony not be eroded by deception in the wave of globalisation #RukunNegara #Malaysia).
Another Twitter user @tharmarajs6 said: 5 prinsip Rukun Negara yang harus kita amalkan terutama kepada generasi muda. #5Prinsip5Dekad# RukunNegara50Tahun #Rukun Negara (5 principles of Rukun Negara that we must practise, especially to the younger generation. “5Principles5Decades#RukunNegara50Years #Rukun Negara).
Meanwhile, Waz Dzar Mo in his posting on Facebook hopes Malaysians would remain safe and united.
“Diasaskan pada tahun 1970. Tahun 2020, cukup 5 dekad Rukun Negara diasaskan. Semoga kita sentiasa dalam keamanan, perpaduan yang utuh dan lebih erat antara satu sama lain (Established in 1970. The year 2020, exactly 5 decades since Rukun Negara was established. May we always be at peace, united and closer to one another),” he said.
Most social media users were in high spirits as they shared the five principles of the Rukun Negara: Belief in God; Loyalty to the King and Country; Supremacy of the Constitution; The Rule of Law; and Courtesy and Morality.
The Rukun Negara was proclaimed on Aug 31, 1970, by the then Yang di-Pertuan Agong Almarhum Tuanku Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Zainal Abidin following the May 13 incident in 1969, with the aim to foster unity among the people of different races, religions, cultures and beliefs.
Numerous other activities and programmes have also been lined up for the Golden Jubilee celebration co-organised by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia and the Ministry of National Unity starting today until Sept 16.
Among the activities are Insta Challenge, Rukun Negara Hour, Webinar, e-Treasure Hunt, Nationhood Ted Talk, series of talks, documentary and Bicyclethon.
