The amendment of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009, which will have a new provision on 'Corporate Liability', will be tabled next March.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan said the draft amendment of the act was still in the final stage.
He said the bill would give more power to combat corruption in the private sector.
"The goverment has given approval to enact this amendment and it will be brought to Parliament for approval," he told reporters after giving a talk at the MACC Open Day, in conjunction with the International Anti-Corruption Day here on Tuesday.
Also present was MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Mustafar Ali.
Low said currently, only private sector employees who committed bribery would be charged if found guilty of a crime, while companies were not liable.
