New coupon parking system in Kangar from Dec 1

The Kangar Municipal Council will implement coupon parking system beginning Dec 1, as an effort to enhance the parking management system throughout Perlis.

MPK president Rosley Mat said the council had appointed a company, Kayangan Parking Sdn Bhd (Kayangan Parking), to operate more than 3,000 car park bays for a period of three years.

The signing ceremony between MPK and Kayangan Parking was held at the MPK office here today with Rosley representing the council while the company was represented by its chief executive officer Ahmad Hazery Che Din.

Rosley said the company would start operations from Dec 1, for a period of three years if its service was satisfied, the service period would be extended for two more years.

He said, from the date of the enforcement of the system, each vehicle owner will have to buy parking coupons from agents appointed by the company at a rate of RM6 for a coupon book containing 10 coupons.

Kayangan Parking has appointed 150 agents around the parking area and the number of agents would be increased in stages to 400.
