New Desserts You Have To Taste
Tokyo Secret Malaysia Known as the Japanese Hanjuku Cheese Tart (Half Baked Cheese Tart) specialist from Hong Kong which arrived in Malaysia, opening their first ever outlet in Ikano Power Centre Shopping Mall. It’s quite misleading that they have the city Tokyo in their name, but it is not originated from Japan, however that doesn’t matter because it tastes remarkable. Using only high quality cheese directly imported all the way from The Land of The Rising Sun, alongside a secret recipe that makes the flavour stay almost indistinguishable to the version from Japan. Tokyo Secret Malaysia is becoming the next big thing since Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake. Waiting time can be a little drawn-out but all the cheese tarts are freshly baked, batch by batch – so it is worth the wait. You will soon get to sink your teeth into thick crust, crumbly with slightly crispy edges filled with delicate, gooey half-baked cheese, thick in consistency and rich in flavour. Address: Tokyo Secret Malaysia – Japanese Hanjyuku Cheese Tart ( Exit between Samsung and Mac City IPC) G23, IPC Shopping Centre, Jalan PJU 7/2 Mutiara Damansara, 47800 Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
Chateraise Patisserie The Japan famous pastry and cake shop with over 4,000 outlets around the globe has arrived in Malaysia – Isetan KLCC, Kuala Lumpur. Known for their multi-coloured, impressive cakes, pastries, cream puffs and confectionary but mostly for their legendary double cream puffs and Japan strawberries (fromTochigi) toppings and cakes made using Hokkaido fresh milk all air-flown from Japan. The store originated from Yamanashi Prefecture, a landlocked prefecture known for its fertile central valley and high quality produce. Must-haves include the baked cheese cake which scores on the fresh cream and a touch of strawberry tangy sourness layered within the sponge cake. Macarons, fluffy cream roll, chocolate, azuki cream pancake, sweet bounchee, lemon cake, chestnut filled bun, raisin sandwich, madeleine, rice dumpling and more are available in Chateraise Pattiserie Isetan KLCC booth. Address: Isetan Concourse Floor Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, 50088 Kuala Lumpur.
Charlie’s At Taman Desa Home-made cakes here are worth indulging in especially Debra’s Musang King Durian Cheesecake that is creamy but not sickly sweet, with a pleasantly mellow but distinct flavour. Alternatively you could also try their cheaper Durian Sponge Cake or scone with cream and strawberry jam. Many are regaled with the exquisiteness of the limited-edition Harum Manis mango cheesecake (made with Indonesian Harum Manis mangoes) and raving about their Musang King Swiss Roll, using fresh ingredients that taste incredible! Address: 29, Jalan Bukit Desa 5, Taman Bukit Desa, 58100 Kuala Lumpur.
Chaplang Kafe This relaxed cafe generally welcomes folks from around the neighbourhood with crowd-pleasing food fare. But even if you're not in Taman OUG, it's worth checking out Chaplang, an overhaul of the former Butter + Beans - this is currently the sole venue that offers G-Lat ice cream, a new range in playful Malaysian flavours, fashioned by local brand Forty Licks. G-Lat’s assortment is appealing enough that selecting which flavour might be problematic – they have exceptional local flavours like kaya toast, neslo, durian and gula Melaka (just to name a few). Customers can have four scoops on a dense, crispy pandan waffle with lots of kaya and bits of popcorn that’s named Bulatan Kampung Pandan. Address: 53 Jalan Hujan Rahmat 3, Taman OUG, Kuala Lumpur.
