Barisan Nasional lawmakers from Terengganu, together with their new Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, are meeting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak here over the political ‘crisis’ that has beset the state.
Earlier, Ahmad Razif was seen arriving in a black Mercedes Benz bearing the number plate TAR76 at the Prime Minister’s office at Perdana Putra, in Putrajaya, at about 11.30am.
Several black luxury cars with Terengganu plates were also seen entering the building, presumably with all 13 other UMNO state assemblymen (ADUN) from the state.
At Press time, the Terengganu leaders are believed to be still in discussions with top UMNO leaders to find a solution to the turmoil that began since Monday after Rafiz took over the helm of the state from Datuk Seri Ahmad Said.
Ahmad, who resigned on Monday to make way for Ahmad Razif, had quit UMNO and declared himself an independent Kijal assemblyman.
He had brought along with him two others: Ajil assemblyman Ghazali Taib and Bukit Besi assemblyman Roslee Daud, who did the same.
He claimed that he was unhappy that he was not given more time as MB. Although he had reportedly signed his resignation when he agreed with Najib to be MB for only another year for the second term.
The three UMNO leader's move created a limbo scenario where BN became a minority government with only 14 reps compared to Pakatan’s 15.
PAS had urged for an emergency meeting to push for a no confidence vote against the new MB but BN insisted that the state remained theirs to administer.
Yesterday, however, Roslee reportedly retracted his resignation, and it was reported that Ghazali was “close” to do the same.
It is unclear if Ahmad and the two others were a part of the meeting today with Najib.
