New Peugeot 508 launched, three variants available
Nasim – the official distributor for Automobiles Peugeot in Malaysia – has just unveiled the refreshed Peugeot 508 and their timing could not be better. The car that was launched about four years ago is getting old and tired. So the new facelifted models aims to inject some spunk back into the lineup as well as rejuvenate sales post-GST.And what a looker this car is. The new grille simple gives the new 508 a more masculine appearance and you do owe it to yourself to see it in the metal. The new vertically oriented front grille features the Peugeot lion in the middle – prominent! – and the bonnet seem to be reformed to give it a more powerful fascia overall. LEDs dominate lighting responsibilities; you’ll find them in the headlights, DRLs and fog lamps. Even the rear gets LEDs, which creates the three ‘claws’ of the Peugeot lion. The newly designed bumper adds substance to the rear end.
Inside, the dashboard also received subtle design changes and housed in the middle is the 7-inch HD multifunction touchscreen that displays the vehicle’s stats, reverse camera and navigation just to name a few. The system is hooked up to a 10-speaker JBL HIFI with subwoofer that reproduces sound through the Arkarmys 3D sound processor.

Both variants can be hard with the new 1.6-litre THP engine, partnered with a six-speed automatic, which produces 163bhp and 240Nm of torque. Max speeds for both variants are 220kph and can get to 100kph from zero in 9.2 seconds; depending on the body and weight.
Fans of diesel engines can consider the 508 GT, which comes equipped with a 2.2 turbodiesel HDI engine that generates 203bhp and 450Nm of torque. The 508 GT is capable of speeds up to 235kph and completes the 0-100kph dash in 8.4 seconds. A six-speed automatic also links with the engine.
