Newborn with umbilical cord attached found in Jinjang

A 16-year-old boy did not expect his dog barking outside his home, which led to the discovery of a baby boy who was left inside a box in front of his house in Jalan Jinjang Selatan Tambahan here today.
Sentul Police District chief ACP R. Munusamy said the newborn, with the umbilical cord and placenta still attached, was found in a drain about 10 metres away from the teenager's house at 10.58am.
"Right after the teenager went outside, his dog had led him to the location of the baby. The teenager than called the police," he told Bernama.
Munusamy said the newborn baby is currently being admitted in the intensive care unit at Selayang Hospital.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for baby abandoning.
Police are asking the public with information on the case to contact the nearest police station or 03-40400781/782 to help in the investigation.
