Land Rover celebrates the first Discovery Sport to make it out of the factory and into the hands of its new owner. By Jerrica Leong
We saw images of how the Discovery Sport made its unique entrance to the Paris Motor Show. Perfect for showing off what the Disco Sport is capable of, reminding us all that Land Rovers are off roaders and not just plain urban SUVs. It’s something that we have to be constantly reminded of!
The Discovery Sport is the first member of the new Discovery family that Land Rover plans to launch in the following years. The first Disco Sport has finally rolled out of the Halewood production line and handed over to Stephen Attenborough, the Commercial Director of Virgin Galactic to support Land Rover’s long-term global partnership with Richard Branson’s pioneering commercial spaceline.
Land Rover’s Halewood plant is already home to the company’s fastest selling model of all time the Range Rover Evoque. The company has got high hopes that the Disco Sport would follow in the footsteps of the Evoque.
It’s a premium compact SUV that Land Rover believes is the most versatile and capable of its class. It features a 5+2 seating in a footprint no larger than the existing five seat premium SUVs. It was the Kaikoura Stone HSE Luxury spec vehicle that was delivered to Attenborough.
Europe will start seeing the premium SUV grazing the roads in early 2015 as Land Rover has plans to enter 170 markets with the Disco Sport.
