News: Let’s welcome the XC60 T6 (emphasis on the number six)
It wasn’t long ago that Volvo launched a car but here comes another more equipped XC60 to tickle your fancy. By Jerrica Leong
Don’t be mistaken, this is the XC60 T6. This car is different from the XC60 T5 that was launched and featured in the pages of CAR’s August issue. You can still read about the T5 here, but all focus is now on the T6. We told you to look forward to a more advanced version of the T5 in 2015 but thanks to the T5’s success since the launch in June, Volvo has decided to bring forward the launch of the T6.
The T5 variant has its own objectives to be around, but the T6 is here to bring buyers the Scandinavian luxury package. The T6 variant may have the same updates as the T5 but the T6 comes with more safety features and a more powerful engine as well.
Yes, the T6 has a more powerful Drive-E engine with a turbo charger but the T6 manages 306bhp and 400Nm of torque making it capable of doing the century sprint in just 6.9seconds. The new eight-speed automatic gives the XC60 a record fuel consumption number of 7.3l/100km.
IntelliSafe (it’s Volvo’s blanket name for all the safety system) will be debuting a few new features like the Active High Beam Control and Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection technology - but hang on, cyclist detection? In Malaysia? Yes, use it on the drunken pedestrians!
Just like all new Volvos, the new XC60 T6 will roll out of the showroom complete with five years warranty, free service including parts per scheduled maintenance and free roadside assist (known as Volvo-on-call).
