News: Nissan Serena S-Hybrid facelifted

What’s different about the face-lifted Nissan Serena S-Hybrid? By Jerrica Leong

• When Nissan introduced the hybrid MPV to Malaysian shores last year it was a CBU model from Japan, the face-lifted version is now built in Malaysia for Malaysians.

• New LED light systems for the hybrid MPV, the headlights are LED head lamps with the LED signature lamps that are first of its class. The new front bumper design will now have fog lamps.

• The rear will now have LED combination lamps are now fashioned with a distinctive S-Shaped line. The new lamps not only provide high visibility for drivers approaching from behind but also give a touch of elegance to the exterior styling.

• Nissan redesigned the three-dimensional chrome plating front grill, along with the redesigned front grill the MPV gets a new bonnet and fender design as well. Other new styling includes new side mouldings and new 16in chrome alloy wheels.

• You will see roof spoilers and door visors on the Premium Highway Star grade to give the MPV a sportier look. This variant also comes with V-Kool Elite Security, Armorcoat and Solar Gard tinting.

• Inside customers will maintain the 14 different seating and cargo configurations but with refreshed styling. The Premium Highway Star offers a touch of sophistication with combination leather seats, a head unit comes with a 6.5in Multimedia Navigator with Rear View Camera, DVD player, iPod connectivity, USB and Bluetooth with a 10.1in roof-mounted LCD panel. Spare tyre is located underneath the front passenger’s seat and now offered as standard.

• The Serena S-Hybrid is powered by Nissan’s MR20DD 2.0L, 4-cylinder DOHC direct-injection petrol engine. Mated with the latest generation XTRONIC CVT gearbox with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC), it delivers 145bhp of power, with a maximum torque of 210Nm at 4,400rpm.

• Using a simple yet compact hybrid system, its ECO electric motor serves as an auxiliary power source to provide engine assistance and power regeneration, with an additional battery unit for extra storage capacity.

Choose from a choice of six colours including two new colours, Garnet Red and Graphite Blue. The Serena S-Hybrid is priced from RM149,500 for the Premium Highway Star and RM138,800 for the Highway Star both prices are OTR prices with insurance for Peninsular Malaysia.
