The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been urged to call Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and former menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to record their statements on the equity take-over of Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor (Splash).
The call was made today by three non-governmental organisations, namely Pertubuhan Gerakan Penegak Suara Selangor (Gapenas), Badan Amal Tarbiah Sejagat (Batas) and Pertubuhan Suara Rakyat Marhaen (Suara).
Suara adviser Zamil Ibrahim said MACC should obtain statements from Mohamed Azmin and Abdul Khalid on the matter as it involved the Selangor people's money.
"The issue on the purchase of Splash equity and liability, worth billions of ringgit, has become a hot topic on the social and mainstream media, but until now, it has yet to end.
"Who is right in this issue? Abdul Khalid said the original offer was RM250.6 million, while Menteri Besar (Mohamed Azmin) said the amount agreed by the state government was RM2.975 billion.
"We hope MACC will act promptly if there are evidence involving corruption in this matter," he told reporters after lodging a report and submitting information on the issue at the Selangor MACC office here.
Also present were Batas supreme council member Hafizam Harun and Gapenas chairman Nasiruddin Mohamed.
Zamil also wanted Mohamed Azmin to explain to MACC on the RM600 million commission to be obtained from the equity take-over of Splash which would be spent to finance political activities.
"Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid should also reveal information on the secret meeting with PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and a representative of Splash, understood to have taken place in 2013," he added.
Prior to this, Abdul Khalid had denied a claim by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali that the state government, during his (Khalid) leadership, had offered RM2.975 billion for equity take-over of Splash between 2008 and 2014. - BERNAMA
