Former Kelantan Menteri Besar, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, 83 has shown progress and reacting positively to treatment, said his son, Nik Abduh on his latest Facebook post.
“Father regained conscious since this morning, he performed his Subuh prayer, drank tea, asked how everybody doing and was smiling before he fell asleep. He asked for more drinks after he woke up,” said Nik Abduh.
He also added that the doctor is happy with Nik Aziz’s development and has assured his family that intensive treatment will continue.
Nik Abduh expressed his gratitude to those who have prayed for his father’s heatlh.
The PAS spiritual leader was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian on Monday and remained in "a serious but stable condition".
Nik Abduh said his father was taken in a serious condition yet stable and had been sedated since he was admitted to ICU.

“My father’s condition is ailing and needs intensive treatment and the doctors are doing their best at the moment. His condition is stable although he remains unconscious due to the medication to treat his prostate cancer. His breathing is stable and doctors have adviced him to undergo intensive treatment at the hospital.
Nik Aziz underwent chemotherapy treatment but his health deteriorated after the Pengkalan Kubor by-election was held in September.
Nik Aziz who is also PAS spiritual leader underwent by-pass operation several years ago before diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The oldest politician in Kelantan, Nik Aziz stepped down from the post of menteri besar, which he has held for five-terms since 1990, and was succeeded by Datuk Ahmad Yakob after the 2014 General Election.
The Chempaka member of Parliament also left his post as Kelantan PAS Commissioner.
