Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad today confirmed that he will contest for the PKR Youth wing's chief position, unveiling his line-up which he has named “AMK for Malaysia”.

This will now create a three way fight for the top Youth wing post.

The 32-year-old Selangor legislative assembly Deputy Speaker and Seri Setia assemblyman will face incumbent Youth vice chief Mohd Nazree Yunus, 30, and Batu Caves assemblyman Amirudin Shari, 32.

Using the slogan ‘dynamic, caring and brave’, Nik Nazmi said that his team of young leaders are ready to continue the party's fight for reform.

“I am sure young people want leaders who they believe represent their interests. This must be reflected in superior ideals, intellectual strength and activism that is enduring,” said Nik Nazmi.

Nik Nazmi said the politics that he aimed to portray was one based on values, sharp thinking and filled with discipline, and not one that reaffirms the thinking that politics is a profession of "low moral" and one that promotes the "art of the possible" and "end justifies the means."

Joining Nik Nazmi as his running mates are Teja assemblyman Chang Lih Kang, contesting for the deputy Youth post.

Nor Hizwan Ahmad, R. Sri Sanjeevan and Carol P. Malawai, meanwhile are candidates for the three vice-chief spots.

The current incumbent PKR Youth chief, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, will not be contesting as he is over the age limit of 35.

Under Shamsul, the wing had previously sought to have the age restriction lifted for the wing’s leaders but the motion was rejected at the party’s special congress held last November.
