Police have detained nine men and 16 women in an operation at an entertainment centre in Jalan Tebrau, here, early Saturday.

Johor Bahru South police chief ACP Sulaiman Salleh said they were all nabbed in the raid over two hours from 12.30am to 2.30am.

"The sweep involved screening 175 individuals comprising 130 men and 45 women at the premises," he said yesterday.

Sulaiman said eight men were found positive for amphetamine usage while another man was wanted by police for drug possession in Jasin, Malacca.

He said 15 of the women tested positive for amphetamine usage.

"One woman is believed to be the owner of the premises and she is being held to assist investigations for not possessing an entertainment licence for the place," he said.

According to Sulaiman, those apprehended were all in their 20's and were being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 6(1) of the Johor State Entertainment Enactment.
