The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) will not increase its men on duty at the national borders during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season.
However, Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin said the current forces would be on alert to ensure the nation's enemies do not take this opportunity to enter the country easily.
"We will increase the security and patrols at the borders to prevent any unwanted incidents during this period.
"This is also to prevent them (the enemy) from thinking we are lax during Hari Raya Aidilfitri," he told reporters after visiting and attending a buka puasa do with members of the Royal Malaysian Navy at the Navy Base in Tanjung Gelang here Friday.
He later performed the Isya and Terawih prayers with navy personnel.
Also present were Navy chief, Admiral Datuk Seri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin and Commander of Marine Region 1, Rear Admiral Datuk Azhari Abdul Rashid.
Meanwhile, Zulkifeli reminded ATM staff not to be influenced by Daish (IS) beliefs which contradicted the teachings of Islam.
He said the ATM had already issued an order to all its staff to avoid surfing any website connected to Daesh so as to preserve the good image of the national security forces.
"The ATM has also formed a special team to inform (staff) of the dangers of the IS threat.
"I have also the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force to monitor all the teams and their members so that they are not involved with the IS," he said.
