'No approvals or contracts given to hold topless party'- The Pool management

The management of The Pool, an entertainment outlet in Jalan Ampang, said no approvals or contracts were provided to the event organisers to host a "topless party".

In a statement published on Facebook, the establishment’s management stated they were unaware of the promotional material which went viral online and was only informed of it through mainstream and social media.

The Pool came under much scrutiny from UMNO Youth and PAS recently due to a leaked picture of a poster which stated that a “Topless Friday Beach Party” was scheduled to be held at their venue this Friday.

“These false and misleading statements have a serious consequence to The Pool as a venue...This has affected the welfare of the The Pool Management and staff and its reputation,” it said.

The Federal Territories Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, on April 9, ordered the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to close down the bar for one week over the controversial party.

The Star Online reported that a City Hall statement said the party was being organised by Tetuan Nihonkan Sdn Bhd and that City Hall had not received an application for the party.

“Even if an application had been submitted, it would not be approved as this is not in accordance with licensing guidelines. The organiser was also found to have displayed the advertisement without approval from City Hall,” it said.

“The Pool management has sought for legal advice and reserve the rights to take legal action against any parties concerned, including and not limited to, parties involved in the publishing of the promotional materials and or the malicious and defamatory attack on good character and reputation of The Pool,” said the Pool management.
