The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed that no case of Kawasaki disease has infected COVID-19 positive children in Malaysia so far.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that although the disease associated with bloodstream inflammation that starts with a fever and rash was not uncommon, the community was advised to avoid infection with children by following standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
"This means that the public must continue to comply with the SOPs under the CMCO including practising social distancing, especially involving high-risk groups such as children, infants, the elderly and the disabled," he told a press conference here today.
Dr Noor Hisham added prevention was better and people need to adhere to the SOP in everyday life.
In a separate development, he said a total of 369 public markets nationwide had been inspected with 31,315 workers or 78.8 per cent of them had undergone screening tests.
He said of the total, 263 individuals were confirmed positive.
