No complaints have been received by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry in relation to the statements made by former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his latest blog entry, chedet.cc.
However it minister, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak said action would be taken on any quarters found issuing statements which threaten the unity and prosperity of the people.
Salleh however denied the allegations by Dr Mahathir through his blog towards Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
“That is all not true. He (Dr Mahathir) can issue any statement, it is up to him, but it is only his opinion. It is not wrong to give an opinion although you do not agree with the government, we will not block any statements released.
“"But there are things to consider which relates to the country’s racial and religious unity, stability and security which should be taken care of. You also need to know how to differentiate one's personal views and something that could jeopardize the national unity," he said.
He stressed that, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will take action if any complaints are received on the matter.
"If there is a reason for action to be taken, we certainly will do so. If there are things that are thought to violate state law, appropriate action can be taken," he said.
Commenting on the restrictions on the website Sarawak Report, he said the action was taken following the dissemination of the information which has a questionable aunthenticity.
