Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia is waiting for the list of names from the Opposition block to prove that they have the majority to table the vote of no-confidence.

He said he had only received 89 names so far and added that there has not been any addition of names to the list.

"Only after they have given me the list that I can pressure the government to debate the motion," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

Citing the power struggle in Sabah in 1994 during the administration of Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan as an example, Pandikar said the Opposition bloc at that time had drawn a list of assemblymen and MPs who no longer supported Pairin.

“When Pairin saw that he had lost the majority, he had met the Sabah Yang di-Pertua and suggested to dissolve the state assembly,” he said.

However, Pandikar said the motion was rejected.

Pandikar was commenting on the motion of no-confidence which will be filed by Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Dr Wan Azizah said the motion will be filed under Section 26 of the Standing Order.

She said the motion will also be supported by PAS members of Parliament.
