The government is still not decided on the sale of vape or banning them, said Health Ministry deputy minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya
He said it is too soon to make a decision on the matter.
“If vape is banned, then what about tobacco? This will cause issues later,” he said when met at Parliament lobby.
Dr Hilmi said the ministry is in the midst of formulating a bill on vape, shisha and tobacco regulation.
On Sept 16, Dr Hilmi had said the existing laws, namely the Control of Tobacco Products Regulations (Amendment) 2011 under the Food Act 1983 was seen as not so effective, especially in terms of fines imposed on offenders, to control the use of vape and other tobacco products, including cigarettes.
